The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has assured the public that all its medical facilities remain fully operational despite the ongoing strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
In a statement issued by its Department of Public Relations, GAF emphasized that its medical stations have mobilized health professionals to sustain healthcare delivery.
The Ghana Armed Forces Critical Care and Emergency Hospital, initially designated for military officers, has now been opened to the general public for emergency and critical care services.
Additionally, with support from the African Rapid Response Partnership, GAF is setting up a field hospital at the 37 Military Hospital to accommodate overflow cases. The facility is expected to be operational by June 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Emergency Unit of the 37 Military Hospital continues to function, despite ongoing fumigation exercises. An alternative emergency unit has also been activated at the Junior Ranks’ Medical Center to ensure uninterrupted care.
Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Ayamdo, has directed the deployment of additional military medical personnel to public hospitals to support emergency response efforts during the strike.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed its commitment to providing uninterrupted, high-quality healthcare and urged the public to remain calm.
