Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko applauds CEANA’s development legacy at 2025 Convention

Ghana’s Council of State Member, Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko-Atokple, has praised the Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) for its decades-long contribution to community development in Ghana, Togo, and Benin, describing the group as “a living example of how diaspora unity can drive sustainable development.”

Speaking at the 2025 CEANA Convention, Tanko-Atokple commended the association for combining cultural solidarity with practical initiatives that have made lasting impacts across Ewe-land. “CEANA has demonstrated that when unity meets purpose, communities rise,” he said.

CEANA’s contributions over the years include:

  • Establishing a modern kindergarten at Dodome-Awuaisu in Ghana’s Volta Region.

  • Setting up a state-of-the-art computer library at Lycée Kpodzi-Kpalimé in Togo, promoting digital literacy.

  • Providing scholarships and infrastructural support across Ewe-speaking areas in Ghana, Togo, and Benin.

Tanko-Atokple encouraged other diaspora groups to emulate CEANA’s model, calling it a “blueprint for mobilizing resources abroad to build futures at home.”

The convention, which brought together Ewes from across North America, reaffirmed CEANA’s mission of preserving cultural identity while advancing sustainable development.
