The Ga State has officially recognized Ubor Magal Kuunboln as the Greater Accra Konkomba Chief in a historic ceremony held at the Sempe Palace in Accra.

The confirmation and registration were performed by the Mankralo of the Ga State and Paramount Chief of the Sempe Traditional Council, Nii Adotey Otintor II, following Ubor Kuunboln’s successful selection as leader of the Konkomba community in Greater Accra.

Prior to his elevation, Ubor Magal Kuunboln served as the Konkomba-Bassare Chief for the Ashaiman-Tema enclave, where he made significant contributions to community development.

The colorful ceremony was attended by high-profile personalities, including former Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) Kenneth Wujanji, the Olebu Konkomba Chief, and several traditional leaders and stakeholders.
Mr. Wujanji explained that the elevation and formal introduction became necessary after the passing of the former Greater Accra Konkomba Chief last year.

“After laying our late chief to rest earlier this year, the community began the careful process of selecting a new leader,” he said. “Today, we are here to officially present our new chief to the custodians of the land.”

Receiving the delegation, Nii Adotey Otintor II commended the Konkomba community for their peaceful transition of leadership and urged the newly chosen chief to serve with humility, respect, and fairness.

“As a leader, some will support you and others may not, but love and listen to them all if you desire peace,” he advised.

“Respect your people, and they will respect you in return. Focus on the youth because they are the future of your community.”

In his remarks, Ubor Magal Kuunboln expressed profound gratitude to the Sempe Traditional Council for their acknowledgment and hospitality.

“We appreciate this warm reception and assurance of collaboration,” he said. “The unity and peace we currently enjoy in Greater Accra will be strengthened under my leadership.”

He also thanked the elders and members of the Konkomba community for their trust.

“You cannot assume leadership on someone’s land without first showing respect to the landlords,” he emphasized.

“Now that we have been officially introduced, we want the world to know that Ubor Magal Kuunboln is the legitimate Greater Accra Konkomba Chief. Any contradictory claims should be ignored.”

The ceremony further reinforced the longstanding bond between the Konkomba community and the Ga State—a relationship built on cultural respect, cooperation, and mutual development.

Ubor Magal Kuunboln is well known for his commitment to peace and grassroots progress. He has championed reconciliation among Konkombas across various regions, including efforts in Nkwanta in the Oti Region during periods of conflict.

During his tenure as Konkomba-Basaari Chief for Tema-Ashaiman, he played a pivotal role, alongside his elders, in establishing the Konkomba Yam Market at Gbetseli in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality, a key initiative that continues to empower traders and boost local economic growth.
