The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles in the Greater Accra Region as part of an ongoing nationwide enforcement exercise targeting the unauthorised use of sirens, horns, beacon lights, strobe lights and improper vehicle modifications.
The exercise, which began on June 15, 2026, is aimed at enforcing compliance with the Road Traffic Regulations and addressing practices that could compromise road safety and public order.
According to the Police, drivers found engaging in such violations were educated on the relevant traffic laws, while unauthorised devices and illegal modifications fitted onto vehicles were removed and seized for further action.
The Service said the enforcement is part of broader efforts to promote discipline among road users, improve safety and ensure that motorists operate within the confines of the law.
So far, a total of 4,627 vehicles have been intercepted nationwide since the exercise commenced.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the operation will continue across the country, warning motorists against the use of unauthorised emergency accessories and other modifications that violate road traffic regulations.
The Police urged drivers and vehicle owners to comply with the law to avoid sanctions and contribute to safer roads for all road users.
