Ghanaian media personality and two-time Guinness World Record contender, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, has officially confirmed the end of her marriage, bringing clarity to days of intense public speculation surrounding her relationship.

In a formal statement released after earlier hints in widely circulated TikTok videos, she disclosed that her separation from her husband, Kofi Owusu Aduonum, was a private decision taken after careful consideration. She appealed to the public and media to handle the matter with sensitivity.

“I wish to formally confirm that my husband and I are no longer together. This decision was reached privately and with careful consideration, and I kindly request that this transition be treated with the sensitivity it deserves,” she stated.

Clarifying circulating claims

Her confirmation comes amid widespread rumours and narratives she described as false and misleading. Without going into details, she firmly dismissed several claims about her personal life.

“It has come to my attention that certain false claims and misleading interpretations have been circulated. I would like to categorically state that many of these assertions are inaccurate and do not reflect the truth of the situation,” she said.

Responding To Claims Of Ingratitude

Asantewaa also addressed suggestions that she had been ungrateful to individuals and institutions that supported her rise. She strongly rejected such perceptions.

“I also wish to address the perception that I have been ungrateful. Let me be clear: I am, and have always been, deeply appreciative of every individual, opportunity, and experience that has contributed to my journey. Any portrayal suggesting otherwise does not represent who I am,” she emphasised.

Dismisses Reconciliation Reports

Her statement also contradicts earlier reports that businessman and philanthropist Kennedy Agyapong, popularly known as Kenpong, had intervened to reconcile the couple.

Those reports claimed the pair—who married in 2017 and have three children—had resolved their differences following mediation efforts. However, her clear confirmation that the marriage has ended effectively dismisses those claims.

Focused On Growth And Purpose

Despite the personal setback, Asantewaa reaffirmed her commitment to her career and advocacy work, stressing her focus on growth and impact.

“As a woman committed to growth, purpose, and impact, I remain focused on my path. I will continue to pursue my dreams, break barriers, and contribute meaningfully to society through my work and advocacy,” she noted.

She also apologised for any concern caused by her recent public expressions.

“If any of my expressions or utterances during this period have been misunderstood or have caused unintended concern, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or distress caused. That was never my intention,” she added.

Asantewaa concluded by expressing gratitude for the continued support from her community, partners, and the public as she navigates this new phase with strength and grace.

The development marks a significant moment in the public life of the woman who gained national recognition through her marathon sing-a-thon attempt, positioning her as a cultural ambassador for Ghana, while drawing a firm line around her private life.
