Frimpong Manso sacked as Bibiani GoldStars head coach after loss to JS Kabylie

Frimpong Manso

Bibiani GoldStars FC have announced the mutual termination of their partnership with head coach Frimpong Manso.

The decision follows the Miners’ 2-0 home defeat to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, a result that has significantly diminished their chances of progressing to the next stage.

Manso, a former Ghana international, took charge of GoldStars in December 2023 and guided the club to its first-ever Ghana Premier League title.

Under his stewardship, the Miners also captured the prestigious GHALCA Top 4 Cup earlier this year, adding another trophy to the club’s cabinet.

GoldStars began their 2025/26 league campaign with a 2-1 victory over Bechem United, but their maiden foray into continental competition proved challenging, with Sunday’s loss at the Accra Sports Stadium leaving their ambitions for Africa’s top club competition in jeopardy ahead of the second leg in Algeria.

The departure of Manso comes at a crucial juncture, as the club prepares to defend its domestic crown while juggling demanding continental commitments.

An interim coach is expected to be appointed in the coming days to steer the team through the second leg this weekend and the resumption of Premier League action.
