Frimpong-Manso Institute calls for unity, reflection in tribute to helicopter crash victims

The Frimpong-Manso Institute (FMI) has expressed deep sorrow following the recent helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

In a moving statement jointly signed by Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, President of FMI; Rev. COP (Rtd.) Dr. David Ampah-Bennin, Chair on Media, Security & Cyber Security; and Dr. Affail Monney, a fellow of the same thematic group, the tragedy was described as a catastrophe of unprecedented proportions.

“This moment marks a national tragedy. A heavy shadow has fallen over Ghana. The loss of these prominent citizens is deeply painful and leaves a significant gap in our development journey,” the statement read.

The Institute offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation.

FMI noted the emotional weight of the incident, acknowledging the immense grief being felt across homes and communities:

“The sea of sorrow and the tears flooding bereaved homes are beyond words.”

Quoting Psalm 90:12 – “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” – the Institute encouraged Ghanaians to turn to faith and remain united through this national loss, urging restraint from conspiracy theories and divisive narratives.

“As investigations proceed to establish the cause of this tragic accident, we encourage the public to remain calm and prayerful. Let us not rush to assumptions but rather focus on seeking divine comfort and national healing.”

The Institute further called for introspection and reminded the public of the fragile nature of life.

The statement ended with a heartfelt prayer: “May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.”
