Former Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has thrown her full support behind the upcoming National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, describing the initiative as a timely and commendable move to honour God’s blessings upon the nation.

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur gave her endorsement during a courtesy call by the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Planning Committee, led by its Chairman, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.

The visit formed part of the committee’s nationwide outreach to engage prominent national figures who have played significant roles in Ghana’s development and unity.

Expressing deep appreciation for the invitation, Mrs. Amissah-Arthur praised the initiative, noting that it comes at a crucial time in the nation’s history when unity, reflection, and gratitude are needed more than ever.

She also commended former President John Dramani Mahama for spearheading what she described as a spiritually uplifting and unifying effort.

“This is a step in the right direction,” she said. “As a country, we must take time to reflect, give thanks, and pray for wisdom and peace. I wholeheartedly support this initiative and look forward to participating.”

Committee Chairman, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah, emphasized the symbolic importance of involving statesmen and women in the observance, stating that their participation affirms the values of unity and national gratitude the day seeks to promote.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving will be observed nationwide on July 1, with a national Christian service scheduled for 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the forecourt of the State House, and a Muslim service to follow at 12:30 PM at the National Mosque.

The event is expected to bring together Ghanaians from all walks of life to reflect on the country’s journey, give thanks for its progress, and seek divine guidance for the road ahead.
