Police have recorded a major breakthrough in the investigation into the brazen robbery at the Juaso District Forestry Services Division office, announcing the arrest of the alleged leader of a gang that stole vehicles, chainsaws, and cash during the attack.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 1, 2025, when about 30 men stormed the government office in a coordinated daylight raid. The suspected ringleader has since been provisionally charged and remanded.

In a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on Thursday, December 4, authorities revealed that the intruders, armed with knives, entered the facility at a time when the Forestry Rapid Response Team—responsible for monitoring operations—was away on duty.

The armed group reportedly ordered staff to hand over their mobile phones before breaking into several offices. Items stolen during the attack included:

• Two chainsaw machines
• One tricycle
• Two KIA trucks
• GH₵9,000 belonging to a staff member

Police launched an immediate pursuit after the robbery was reported, leading to the arrest of the alleged gang leader, identified as Prince Agyapong. Officers also recovered the two stolen KIA trucks, which have since been deposited at the Juaso District Police Headquarters as exhibits for the investigation.

Agyapong has been arraigned before the Agogo District Court on a provisional charge of robbery and has been remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear in court on December 15, 2025.

Police say efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining members of the gang and to retrieve the outstanding stolen items, including the two chainsaw machines, the tricycle, and the GH₵9,000 in cash.
