The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Ghana’s Embassy in Tehran will resume operations on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, nearly three months after its closure due to regional tensions.
The mission was temporarily shut down on June 16 as a precautionary measure to protect embassy staff during the height of hostilities between Iran and Israel.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 2, the ministry explained that the decision to reopen the embassy follows a significant improvement in the security situation in Iran.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the general public that with the current improvement in security conditions in Iran, the Embassy will reopen on Tuesday, September 16, 2025,” the statement noted.
The ministry added that the government will continue to monitor developments closely to ensure the safety of both diplomatic staff and Ghanaians residing in Iran.
It further assured that Ghana remains committed to protecting the interests of its citizens abroad and will provide timely updates whenever necessary.
