The Ghana School of Law (GSL) has postponed examinations scheduled for Monday, June 29, 2026, following heavy rainfall and flooding that disrupted movement in several parts of Accra, including areas around the examination centre.
In a notice issued to students on Monday morning, management said it had been closely monitoring weather conditions over the past two hours and, after consultations with the Chair of the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC), decided to delay the exams in the interest of students’ safety.
Management urged students not to risk their lives by attempting to travel through floodwaters or severe rainfall to reach the examination venue.
It assured students that no candidate would be disadvantaged as a result of the weather conditions.
“No student will be disadvantaged with respect to the examinations as a result of this act of God,” the notice stated.
The School further explained that examinations would not commence until weather conditions improved and students were given adequate time to travel safely, should the exams proceed later in the day.
Students have been advised to monitor their official email accounts, mobile phones, WhatsApp platforms, the School’s official website, and social media channels for further updates.
“Your safety remains our highest priority. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we continue to monitor the situation,” management added.
The postponement follows heavy rains on Monday morning that triggered flooding across the capital, disrupting transport services, commercial activities, and access to public institutions.
The flooding comes after earlier weather warnings indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall and flash floods in parts of southern Ghana.
Several major roads in Accra were rendered impassable, leaving commuters stranded and affecting business operations and public services.
The Ghana School of Law said it will continue to monitor developments and communicate further decisions as conditions improve.
