
A serious road crash on the Mankessim–Apam highway at Ekumfi Essakyir on Tuesday narrowly avoided turning deadly as five individuals were trapped in a mangled vehicle following a collision..
The accident involved a DAF Articulator with registration number AS 3215-25 and a Nigerian-registered Hyundai Starex (AKN 620XA).
It is unclear the exact cause of the accident but the impact left the Hyundai severely damaged while the DAF truck suffered partial front-end damage.
The five victims, who were trapped inside the Hyundai vehicle, were extricated by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and rushed to nearby health facilities.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
The fire crew also cleared the debris from the road to restore traffic flow and secured personal belongings found at the scene, which were later handed over to officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.
The timely response by emergency teams was crucial in preventing further injuries and ensuring safety at the crash site.
