The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five individuals in connection with a murder stemming from a chieftaincy dispute at Asemkor in the Agona Nkwanta District.
The incident, which occurred on October 6, 2025, led to the death of John Abban, brother of the chiefs of Butre and Asemkor.
In a statement dated October 21, 2025, the police said three suspects, Kennedy Abor, alias Abongo (30), Kojo Attah Panyi (20), and Joseph Basses (30), were apprehended at their hideout in Funko on October 15 following sustained intelligence operations by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
The remaining two suspects, Abraham Cudjoe, alias Yalle (39), and Ekow Painstil (45), were later arrested at Afuaman Ayigbe Town in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on October 21, in a joint operation between the Western and Accra Regional Intelligence Directorates.
Police say all five suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations.
