The Cyber Security Unit of the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Kade Police, has arrested five suspects in connection with the assault of Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School in the Kwaebibirim Municipality.

The suspects were apprehended on Monday, January 5, 2026, after reportedly traveling from Accra to Kade.

Awoonor Yevu Godwin, Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), confirmed the arrests to Accra-based Citi News, adding that the suspects are expected to be arraigned before the Kade Circuit Court on Wednesday morning.

Preliminary reports indicate that the attack occurred on October 5, 2025, when former students allegedly assaulted the teacher in protest over his strict supervision during the Christian Religious Studies paper of the 2025 WASSCE.

The incident has been widely condemned by President John Mahama, the Ghana Education Service (GES), and NAGRAT national, with assurances that the culprits will face the full rigor of the law.
