
Ten people have sustained injuries following a head-on collision between a tractor and a Toyota Hiace at Yapei in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Buipe Fire Command received a distress call about the crash and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that a tractor with registration number NR-1837-A had collided head-on with a Toyota Hiace minibus, registered AS-7243-23, in the middle of the road.
The impact of the crash left several passengers trapped inside the vehicles.
The rescue team swiftly extricated ten victims and handed them over to personnel from the National Ambulance Service, who transported them to the Yapei Polyclinic for medical attention.
Officials described the damage to both vehicles as severe.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but the police and fire service have begun investigations to determine what led to the collision.
Meanwhile, GNFS has commended the quick response of its rescue team and the ambulance service and urged drivers to exercise caution on the road, especially at night and during the rainy season, when visibility is often poor.
