A two-bedroom apartment has been completely destroyed by fire at Kwashie Bu in Santa Maria, near Rect Academy in Accra, despite the swift response of firefighters.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), drawn from the Anyaa and Abelemkpe Fire Stations, arrived promptly after receiving a distress call at about 7:00 a.m.
The first crew got to the scene within 15 minutes and immediately began efforts to contain the blaze, which had already engulfed the apartment and its contents.
Firefighters brought the fire under control at approximately 8:08 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 8:20 a.m.
Although the apartment was completely destroyed, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
Officers also prevented the flames from spreading to adjoining buildings, averting what could have been a more devastating incident.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.
The GNFS has urged residents to adhere to fire safety precautions and report any fire incidents promptly to help minimise damage and protect lives.
