A commercial shop at Asokwa in Kumasi, near the Unity Oil Filling Station, was gutted by fire on Sunday evening, June 14, 2026, destroying goods and property worth thousands of cedis.

The affected shop, Eddy Kay Collection Shop, was completely engulfed in flames when the fire broke out at about 7:54 p.m., according to information gathered at the scene.

Firefighters from the regional headquarters substation were deployed to the area following a distress call and arrived shortly after. The fire was brought under control within minutes and fully extinguished later in the evening.

Although the shop and its contents were completely destroyed, adjoining structures were saved, preventing what could have escalated into a wider commercial and residential disaster.

No casualties were recorded.

The Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kamel Amo, visited the scene to assess the situation and obtain firsthand information as emergency response efforts were underway.

Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
