A fire broke out at the Bolgatanga Technical Institute in the early hours of Sunday, destroying the school’s library and the Senior Housemaster’s office.

The blaze, which started around 12:57 a.m., sent students and staff into panic as thick smoke filled the area.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed to the campus and battled the flames for nearly an hour before bringing it under control.

Led by Station Officer II Azanga Peter Agambare, the crew adopted both offensive and defensive firefighting strategies, managing to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the school. The flames were fully extinguished by 1:56 a.m.

Books, office furniture, and equipment were lost in the blaze, but no casualties were reported.

The GNFS has launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
