The Achimota Circuit Court has remanded 21-year-old Azumah Sampson, the man accused of stabbing a fire officer during an emergency operation at Adjiringanor, after proceedings were adjourned on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
The court was expected to deliver a ruling, but the hearing stalled when the accused claimed he could not read the charge sheet and required a translator. Prosecutors also failed to present witnesses, compelling the judge to postpone the matter.
The case has been rescheduled to December 17, 2025, when the prosecution is expected to return with the suspect, the injured fire officer, and all relevant witnesses for cross-examination.
Sampson was arrested after several days on the run, following a violent incident in which a firefighter was stabbed while responding to a blaze that tore through parts of a two-storey, eight-room house near Ability Square in Adjiringanor.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries, has since been treated and discharged.
The Ghana National Fire Service earlier described the attack as a criminal assault on a public officer on duty, and pledged full cooperation with the Police to ensure justice is served.
