A fire outbreak has destroyed five rooms at the Gambaga Witches Camp in the North East Region after flames swept through an unused structure within the facility.

The incident reportedly began when a blaze, suspected to have been triggered by bush burning, spread rapidly and threatened an eight-room block at the camp.

Personnel from the Gambaga Fire Station responded to a distress call and managed to contain the fire, preventing it from consuming the entire structure. Three rooms were salvaged, while five were completely destroyed.
Sources at the scene indicated that the fire had already intensified by the time emergency responders arrived, partly due to a delayed distress call and poor road access to the area. The surrounding bushland, already ablaze, further complicated efforts to control the flames.
No casualties were reported.
Authorities are yet to conduct a full assessment of the extent of the damage, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.
