A ravaging fire has swept through parts of Tema Community 1, Site 17, on Friday, November 14, destroying several commercial structures before being brought under control by firefighters.
In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the distress call came in at 9:43 a.m. A team from the Tema Industrial Area Fire Station arrived at 9:50 a.m. to find the blaze rapidly spreading through multiple business structures.

Given the intensity of the fire, additional support was requested from the Motorway Fire Station. Both crews worked together to contain the flames, bringing the situation under control by 10:20 a.m. and fully extinguishing it at 11:40 a.m.

Two wooden structures and three metal containers used for various commercial purposes were completely destroyed. Firefighters, however, prevented the incident from extending to a nearby residence, identified as House No. IR 111.

Personnel were also able to recover several items from the affected businesses, including 17 wooden sofas, a projector, a TV, two printers, three barrels of petrol and diesel, and five car batteries.
No injuries were recorded. The GNFS says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
