A fierce fire swept through sections of the Ashaiman Light Industrial Area, widely known as Fitter Line, in the early hours of Tuesday, September 30, destroying over 100 wooden structures and gutting two metal containers.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in a statement on Facebook, said it received the distress call at 3:31 a.m. and dispatched a team that arrived on the scene within seven minutes.
According to GNFS, firefighters managed to contain the fire by 4:13 a.m., brought it under control by 4:36 a.m., and completely doused the flames by 6:35 a.m.
The blaze also damaged a Mazda saloon car with registration number GN 6085-22, along with the two containers and their contents. However, quick intervention from the fire crew saved more than 20 wooden structures, several other containers, and eight vehicles from destruction.
Fortunately, no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported, despite the area being a hub for artisans, traders, and mechanics during the day.
GNFS said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire and appealed for calm while assessments continue.
