A fire that destroyed several makeshift commercial and residential structures near SoccerBet at Tudu in Accra has been brought under control, authorities have confirmed.
The blaze, which broke out earlier on Wednesday, prompted a swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), with four fire tenders dispatched from the Accra City, Ministries, Industrial Area fire stations, and the Service’s National Headquarters.
Firefighters battled the fire for several hours, successfully preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings. No injuries were reported.
Following containment, GNFS personnel began overhaul operations to extinguish remaining hotspots and fully secure the affected area.
The GNFS described the incident as an early indication of a potentially active fire season in 2026 and urged the public to remain vigilant and strictly follow fire safety measures.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with authorities promising further updates as they become available.
