The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has cleared Ghanaian businessmen Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, and Richard Nii Armah-Quaye after months of investigation into their financial activities.
The probe, which earlier led to the freezing of their bank accounts over suspected irregularities, has ended with the FIC restoring their full access to funds.
Chief Executive Officer of the FIC, Kwadwo Twum Boafo, confirmed the development in an interview with Accra-based GHOne TV.
According to him, a detailed review found no evidence of financial misconduct or criminal activity.
“McDan’s issue has been resolved. That is why I keep saying we don’t do personal vendettas. You can speak with him… His accounts are unfrozen. The accounts of Richard Nii Armah-Quaye were frozen, but they have been unfrozen now because there was a determination that there was no need for it to go forward,” Ing. Twum Boafo stated.
He commended both businessmen for their full cooperation during the investigation, which allowed the Centre and its partner agencies to verify the legitimacy of their financial dealings.
“He came here, sat down with us and gave us a thorough explanation of what he does, and there was no problem. Like I said, we deal with people fairly and I don’t have a personal vendetta against anyone,” he added.
Mr. Twum Boafo stressed that the FIC’s work is guided by due process and factual evidence, not political influence or bias.
He reiterated that the Centre’s mandate is to protect Ghana’s financial system from misuse and promote transparency across institutions, rather than target individuals.
The FIC boss also urged the public to maintain confidence in state institutions, assuring that all decisions are made based on credible investigations and not speculation.
