Father arrested for stabbing teen daughter over pregnancy

A 45-year-old farmer, Kwabena Asiedu, has been arrested by the Bibiani District Police for allegedly stabbing his 18-year-old daughter, Susana Asiedu, also known as Maabena, over her pregnancy.

The incident occurred at Sefwi Tanoso Praso in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

Susana, a hairdressing apprentice, said she was visiting a friend when her father confronted her, accusing her of being five months pregnant while still under apprenticeship.

She admitted to being pregnant, which reportedly sparked a heated exchange.

According to her, the argument escalated, and her father pulled out a kitchen knife, chased her into her friend’s room, and stabbed her multiple times.

Kwabena Asiedu fled the scene after the attack. Susana lost consciousness and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital by a local unit committee member.

Isaac Kyei Asante, the Unit Committee Member for the Sefwi Tanoso Praso Electoral Area, described the incident as shocking and expressed concern over the rising cases of domestic violence.

He confirmed that the suspect has since been arrested and is in police custody while investigations continue.

Authorities have assured the public that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly.
