Family blames hospital at Kasoa for death of 35-year-old during childbirth

-

The family of a 35-year-old woman, Vivian Otoo, who died during childbirth, is up in arms with workers at the Mother and Child Hospital at Kasoa CP.

The angry relatives said Vivian was hale and hearty when she went to the facility but was given medication to rest for a while to induce labour.

After a few hours, she started bleeding profusely amidst screams for help, but the nurses on duty allegedly ignored her, instead choosing to watch videos on TikTok.

A sister of the deceased, Elizabeth Okra, told Adom News that other pregnant women in the ward confirmed that Vivian’s pleas for help were not heeded.

She was later rushed to the theatre, and the baby delivered through a Cesarean section, but Vivian didn’t survive.

The disgruntled family members have threatened to deal with the nurses who were on duty at the time of the incident, although their next line of action is not yet known.

Meanwhile, the hospital management is yet to comment on the incident.
