Asante Kotoko have been awarded a total of GH¢180,000 after winning the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over lower-division side Golden Kick FC in Sunday’s final held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, clinching their 10th FA Cup title.
Kwame Opoku opened the scoring for Kotoko, but Golden Kick’s Bless Ege levelled the match with a brilliant free-kick before halftime.
In the dying moments of the game, Kotoko were awarded a controversial penalty, which Opoku confidently converted to seal the win for head coach Karim Zito’s men.
Speaking on Sporty FM, FA Cup Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur confirmed the financial package for the winners.
“The prize money for the MTN FA Cup is GH¢80,000, plus GH¢100,000 to prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup,” he disclosed.
With the win, Kotoko not only claim the GH¢80,000 cash prize but also receive GH¢100,000 from the Ghana Football Association to support their continental campaign next season.
