Ex-Hearts of Oak Midfielder Salifu Ibrahim set to switch allegiance to Benin

-

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Salifu Ibrahim is reportedly set to switch his international allegiance to Benin, leveraging his family roots in the West African nation.

The 25-year-old has held discussions with the Benin Football Federation and is said to have agreed to represent the Squirrels at the international level.

Salifu played for Hearts of Oak from 2021 to 2024, after joining from Eleven Wonders, and was part of the squad that clinched the Ghana Premier League title. He also played a pivotal role in FC Drita’s league triumph in Kosovo.

His impressive performances have reportedly caught the eye of Benin coach Gernot Rohr, who is eager to include him in the squad for the upcoming international window.

Benin, who narrowly missed out on a historic World Cup qualification, have already secured a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where they will compete in Group D alongside DR Congo, Senegal, and Botswana.
