Former Chief Executive Officer of Hearts of Oak, His Royal Majesty Dr. Nii Ayi-Bonte II, has backed the club to win the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title.
The Accra-based giants endured a trophyless campaign last term, prompting the Board of Directors to appoint Didi Dramani as head coach.
Under his guidance, Hearts began their pre-season on a bright note, edging Heart of Lions to lift the 2025 Homowo Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

With the new season set to kick off on September 12, the Gbese Mantse and Adonten of the Ga State said Hearts must aim for nothing less than the league crown.

“For now, I’ll say we need to win the league this year. Definitely. We have come back; we’ll give our quarter and support our brother,” Nii Ayi-Bonte told Citi Sports.
The traditional leader, who oversaw Hearts’ historic treble in 1999/2000 when they clinched the Premier League, FA Cup, and CAF Champions League, admitted that running a football club in Ghana remains a daunting task.
However, he believes current Board Chairman Togbe Afede deserves commendation for steering the club through difficult times.
“To run football in this country is not so easy. I’ve always been told that Togbe Afede is doing very well. We also need to give him the support to achieve the aim,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will open their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a clash against newly promoted Hohoe United.
