The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, has called on Assembly Members to enhance their capacity to effectively respond to the growing demands of the city.
He made the call during a two-day orientation and workshop aimed at equipping members with the skills and knowledge needed to improve performance in local governance.
Addressing participants, the Mayor emphasized the pivotal role Assembly Members play in driving development at the grassroots level, noting that Kumasi’s rapid growth requires proactive, informed, and responsive leadership.
He urged members to take the training seriously, stressing that continuous learning and capacity building are essential for improving service delivery and addressing emerging urban challenges.
The Mayor also commended Assembly Members for their commitment over the past year, highlighting progress in key areas such as sanitation enforcement and local governance.
He noted that the gains recorded must be sustained through improved coordination, adherence to regulations, and a renewed sense of responsibility among members.
The workshop focused on critical areas including governance, ethics, revenue mobilisation, and local economic development—pillars expected to drive Kumasi’s transformation and prepare the city to meet future demands.
Participants are expected to apply the knowledge gained to enhance decision-making, strengthen community engagement, and contribute meaningfully to the overall development agenda of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
