Engr. Richard Ben Debrah honoured as African Ambassador for Excellence in Infrastructure and Engineering Development

The Head of the Works Department at the Tema West Municipal Assembly and National President of the Local Government Service Engineers Association of Ghana, Engr. Richard Ben Debrah, has been honoured with the prestigious African Ambassadorial Title for Infrastructure Development and Engineering Excellence.

This was at the 2025 African Ambassadorial Title Conference and Awards by The Business Executive at the Concord Hotel in Nairobi.

In a remarkable celebration of engineering leadership and innovation, Engr. Debrah received continental recognition for his outstanding contributions to infrastructure development and engineering excellence across Ghana and the African continent.

The event attracted prominent dignitaries, diplomats, and policymakers from countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Belarus, and Ghana, highlighting the international significance of the awards.

Engr. Debrah’s award, presented by Mrs. Engedaye Eshete of the Equal Trade Women Alliance of Ethiopia, celebrated his commitment to sustainability, professional innovation, and his transformative impact on infrastructure systems in local governance.

In a heartfelt acceptance speech, Engr. Debrah emphasized the vital role engineering plays in Africa’s development:

“Our role in shaping the continent’s infrastructure is pivotal in ensuring sustainable economic growth and regional development,” he said.

He encouraged engineers across Africa to remain devoted to innovation, sustainability, and high professional standards to help advance the continent’s transformation agenda.

Dr. Baroness Paulette Kporo, CEO of the Awards Organization, commended Engr. Debrah for his exceptional leadership:

Engr. Debrah dedicated the award to his team at the Tema West Municipal Assembly, his colleagues at the Local Government Service Engineers Association of Ghana, the Ghana Institution of Engineering, and St. Bakhita Catholic Church in Koforidua, acknowledging their collective support and prayers.

He gave special thanks to his wife and family, recognizing their unshakable support as the foundation of his professional journey.

This distinguished recognition not only cements Engr. Debrah’s legacy as a trailblazer in engineering and infrastructure development but also shines a spotlight on Ghana’s growing role in shaping Africa’s sustainable development future.
