A fire outbreak destroyed an electrical pole at Sapieman near Macedonia Junction, plunging the community into temporary darkness.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at about 5:14 p.m. and promptly dispatched a firefighting team to the scene.
Upon arrival, the crew found that the blaze had partially damaged Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) fuse cables and a high-tension wooden pole.
The fire posed a threat to nearby installations and raised concerns about possible power outages in the area.
Firefighters, led by Assistant Divisional Officer II (ADO II) David Quansah Tetteh, managed to bring the situation under control before it could escalate.
Their swift intervention also ensured the successful salvage of a 200KVA transformer, preventing what could have been significant damage and a prolonged power disruption.
No injuries were recorded.
Authorities are expected to assess the extent of the damage and determine the cause of the fire.
