New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called for a united national front against election-related violence, warning that justifying such acts poses a serious threat to Ghana’s democracy.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Adutwum said political violence affects the entire country, not just one party, and must not be tolerated in any form.
“We want Ghana’s democracy to work. If something happens, it affects the whole country. Violence is not an option. We are in a democracy,” he said.
Dr. Adutwum emphasised the need for all political actors to come together to safeguard peace and prevent future unrest.
“Justifying election violence is harmful. As a nation, we must reach a point where we confront and address it collectively. Blaming one political party won’t help. We all need to come together, or it will affect us in the long run,” he added.
He called on Ghanaians to prioritise peace and unity as the country prepares for the next general elections.
