Kumasi-based EKK Charity Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has embarked on a philanthropic work of donating some essential items to nursing mothers in commemoration of Mother’s Day.
The Foundation donated toiletries, diapers, detergents, disinfectants, as well as cash to nursing mothers who gave birth on Sunday in six hospitals within the greater Kumasi metropolis.
The charity exercise benefited more than 150 lactating mothers who delivered babies at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Atonsu, and Tafo government hospitals, KNUST hospital, among other clinics.
CEO of the Foundation, Evans Kofi Kwafo, said the organisation is committed to impacting lives.
“My mother told me she wants nothing for this Mother’s Day; she instructed me to honour mothers, and that’s what I have done,” the CEO asserted.
He promised to intensify such gestures going forward, witnessing the dire need of some mothers at the various hospitals who cannot afford the basic necessities or pay their bills and advised women not to abort or abandon their infants.
“I advise women not to abort pregnancy, and neither abandon your children, because God will cater to and provide your needs. ”
“We will do more henceforth and call on others to support our good work. I thank the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, who gave me an envelope through Appiah Stadium. I never imagined it, so I’m grateful,” he revealed.
EKK Charity Foundation, which has been in existence for the past decade, decided to do something unusual in its operations.
Mrs Joana Adom Afrifa, Social Welfare representative at the KATH Maternity Block, thanked the Foundation, emphasising that the items presented will help alleviate the needs of the mothers.
Madam Yaa, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the foundation.
“We thank you, and God bless you. All the mothers say God bless you. I stand on their behalf to say thank you. May the Lord bless you and make all your doings be well. I am very happy,” the mother of two appreciated.
The Foundation also paid a courtesy visit to Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, and presented gifts to celebrate her.
The foundation also paid hospital bills for some mothers who had been denied going home due to unsettled bills.
