The Effutu Municipal Assembly has provided items and cash worth GH¢240,000 to persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in a bid to reduce unemployment and poverty in the municipality.

Speaking to Adom News, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Rev. Arthur Mensah, said the Assembly is committed to creating an enabling environment for PWDs through skills training and livelihood support to enhance their economic well-being.

He cautioned the 60 beneficiaries to make proper use of the items and seed capital, urging them not to sell the equipment or misuse the funds.

Rev. Mensah also advised against spending the money on non-productive activities, such as funeral expenses, encouraging beneficiaries to invest the support into their businesses to become self-reliant.

Meanwhile, the Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Joshua Alabi, emphasized that the provision of equipment and capital leaves beneficiaries with no excuse not to start their businesses.

He urged them to use the resources wisely to improve their livelihoods and help reduce unemployment among PWDs in the municipality.
