Security personnel are working to clear the Offankor Barrier Road following a fatal road accident that occurred earlier on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), ADO1 Alex King Nartey, told Adom News that 10 people have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries.

The accident involved seven vehicles and an Aboboyaa, resulting in severe traffic congestion along the stretch.

The GNFS, together with the Ghana Police Service, has commenced investigations to establish the circumstances that led to the crash.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has urged the public to prioritise assisting accident victims rather than taking pictures and videos at accident scenes.

He also said measures would be introduced to prevent drivers from stopping on the inner lane to pick up or drop off passengers, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and road safety.

The accident has caused significant disruption to traffic in the area as emergency and security personnel continue working to clear the road.
