Eastern Regional Fire Officer visits firefighter injured in Koforidua building collapse

A fire officer who was injured after part of a building collapsed on him while responding to a fire in Koforidua is receiving treatment at the Central Hospital, Koforidua.

Station Officer II James Atuahene sustained the injuries on the night of October 3, 2026, while responding to a fire outbreak at a residential-commercial building in the Eastern Regional capital.

During the firefighting operation, a section of the building collapsed, causing debris to fall on him.

He was subsequently rescued and taken to the Central Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention and responding well to treatment.

The Eastern Regional Fire Officer, ACFO II Ofori Asomoah, visited StnO II Atuahene at the hospital on Tuesday, October 6, accompanied by the Regional Second-in-Command, Regional Accountant and other members of the management team.

The visit was to check on the condition of the injured officer and assure him of the support of the Regional Command as he recovers.

The Command also wished him a speedy recovery and commended the efforts that led to his rescue following the building collapse.
