DzoloKpuita youth urged to shun drug abuse

The Fiaga of DzoloKpuita, Togbe Fiado VI, has urged the youth in the area to abstain from “Red” and other harmful substances that can jeopardize their health and future.

Speaking at the 2025 Sabiawo Youth Festival held at DzoloKpuita in the Ho West District of the Volta Region—a fundraising event for the construction of a mechanised borehole—Togbe Fiado VI emphasized that the community’s development vision can only be achieved if the youth unite and avoid hard drugs that threaten their goals.

“I have been watching television, and I see how youth nowadays take in hard drugs—Red, Wee, and other substances harmful to their health. I saw one youth who took in this hard drug and was chewing paupers. Is this proper for a youth?” Togbe Fiado VI asked.

He continued: “I want to use this opportunity to advise the youth of DzoloKpuita to shun this behavior. If other communities are doing this, don’t follow them.”

The Chief also thanked the youth for coming together to contribute to community development rather than relying solely on government intervention. He appealed for forgiveness among residents in case of misunderstandings, stressing that unity is essential for the community’s progress.

In an interview with Adom News Correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job, the Rector and Founder of Adonia University College of Research and Entrepreneurship, Mr. Bright Adonai, called on all indigenes of DzoloKpuita, both at home and abroad, to actively participate in the youth festival to support local development. He also advised the organizers to upgrade their management to attract more participants in future editions.

Mr. Ing Nukomeko Koku Tettey, NDC Ho West Constituency Chairman representing the Member of Parliament, Mr. Emmanuel Bedzra, and the District Chief Executive, Mr. Francis Profer Dussey, explained the absence of government appointees due to other official duties.

He assured the community that government representatives remain committed to supporting developmental projects in DzoloKpuita, the district capital, and other communities.

The 2025 Sabiawo Youth Festival brought together chiefs, queen mothers, and residents from DzoloKpuita and surrounding communities. The planning committee pledged to organize an even bigger festival in the coming years.
