Developing Women for Mobilisation (DWM) has marked this year’s International Women’s Day by calling for renewed commitment to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

In a statement to commemorate the day, the organisation also paid tribute to its late President, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, for her dedication to advancing the rights and opportunities of women and girls.

DWM said the 2026 celebration, themed “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” provides an opportunity to reflect on progress made while pushing for stronger action to achieve gender equality.

The group highlighted the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ pivotal role in championing women’s access to education, economic empowerment, leadership opportunities, and protection from gender-based violence.

The organisation called on government, civil society, and development partners to collaborate in ensuring women and girls have equal opportunities, protection, and representation across all sectors of society.

DWM reaffirmed its commitment to continue advocating for policies and programmes that empower women and girls, while honouring the legacy of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.
