Drug addicts turn Adankwame school into open defecation hotbed

The Amadum Adankwame Methodist Primary School in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti Region is facing a serious challenge.

Some drug addicts have taken over the school premises, using the environment as a hangout spot.

They openly defecate in classrooms due to the lack of fencing and proper structures.

A member of the School Management Committee (SMC), Stephen Osei Akoto, says the school’s poor state is a cause for concern.

“The poor nature of the school doesn’t reflect well on the institution,” he said. “The classroom blocks have damaged roofing, making it difficult for teachers and children to learn during the rains.”
