Commercial vehicle drivers who ply the Accra-Pokuase and Kumasi routes are appealing to the authorities to urgently fix the street lights along the Pokuasi-Amasaman road to help prevent accidents.

Speaking to Adom News, the drivers said travelling at night and in the early hours of the morning has become increasingly dangerous due to poor visibility caused by the lack of functioning street lights.

They explained that inadequate lighting makes it difficult for drivers to clearly see pedestrians, other vehicles and obstacles on the road, thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

According to the drivers, several crashes have occurred along the stretch due to poor visibility, yet little has been done to address the situation despite repeated concerns.

They are therefore calling on the relevant authorities responsible for road infrastructure and street lighting to urgently repair or install the necessary street lights.

The drivers believe improved lighting along the Pokuasi-Amasaman road will enhance visibility, improve road safety and help prevent further accidents, particularly at night.
