Hearts of Oak legend Mohammed Ahmed Polo has expressed doubts over the club’s decision to appoint Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as head coach, warning that the move alone does not guarantee success.
Dramani, a former Black Stars assistant coach, was recently unveiled as the new trainer on a two-year contract ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
The ex-Asante Kotoko manager, who previously led the Porcupine Warriors to two Ghana Premier League titles and an FA Cup triumph, has been tasked with reviving the Phobians after a disappointing, trophyless 2024/25 campaign.
But Polo believes Hearts’ problems go beyond just the head coach role.
“Didi Dramani’s appointment doesn’t guarantee success. What is he coming to do?” Polo asked during an interview with Sporty FM.
He referenced the tenure of outgoing coach Aboubakar Ouattara, saying, “Ouattara came in and almost took the club to relegation, and in the second season, he didn’t win anything for the club.”
“Now Didi Dramani is coming, but that doesn’t guarantee success until the right thing is done,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have reassigned Ouattara to serve as Special Advisor to the club’s Board of Directors.
