The Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has confirmed that its offices were raided by security operatives from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Dr. Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, Director of Support Services at SML, disclosed the development in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, stating that the raids occurred at the company’s offices in Osu and Tema.

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting the operation was conducted under a court order with the support of the National Security Secretariat, Dr. Sarpong insisted that no search warrant was presented during the operation.

Sources suggest the OSP is in the advanced stages of investigating the controversial SML contract and is particularly interested in retrieving electronic data from the company’s servers.

Dr. Sarpong confirmed that SML had received a letter from the OSP and had assured full cooperation, making the unannounced operation puzzling.

“We therefore cannot understand why they raided our offices this morning, causing panic and confusion. Some staff were handcuffed and made to sit in the sun for hours,” she claimed.

She further accused the security team of causing financial loss to the state, alleging that several servers and valuable data were destroyed in the process.

The raid comes amid the OSP’s ongoing probe into former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta regarding a number of financial transactions, including the controversial SML deal.
