Desmond Ofei reassigned to focus fully on Black Stars – GFA

-

Desmond Ofei, head coach of Ghana’s U20 national team, will step down from his role with the Black Satellites after guiding them through the upcoming WAFU A & B U20 Championships.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says the decision is intended to allow the Belgian-trained coach to fully support Black Stars head coach Otto Addo in preparing for the team’s upcoming international engagements.

“This is part of a strategic shift to streamline coaching roles and reinforce clear mandates within each national team,” the GFA stated.

As part of the restructuring, Charles Sampson will now focus solely on his role with the Black Princesses, ending his previous dual responsibilities that included serving as assistant coach for the Black Queens.

The GFA emphasised that these changes are aimed at eliminating scheduling overlaps and role duplication, while enhancing focus, technical planning, and consistency across all national teams.

According to the Association, the reorganisation is expected to enable coaches to dedicate themselves fully to their respective teams—a move they believe will bolster the long-term success of Ghanaian football on the international stage.
