Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has proposed the construction of a railway line linking Jomoro in the Western Region to Tema in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to expand Ghana’s railway network and enhance the transportation of goods.

Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Madam Affo-Toffey expressed her commitment to revitalising the railway sector through public-private partnerships and strategic investments.

“If approved, I will work with my sector minister to attract investors and explore public-private partnerships that will help modernise our railway system,” she said.

When asked about the feasibility of a direct rail connection between Jomoro and Tema, she responded, “Yes, Mr. Chairman, I will support it. It will be very beneficial.”

She assured the committee of her readiness to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ghana’s transport and railway infrastructure.
