Delegates, not MPs, will decide NPP’s future – Bryan Acheampong

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has stressed that it is delegates—not Members of Parliament—who will determine the party’s next presidential candidate.

Speaking during his constituency tour in Achiase, Eastern Region, Dr Acheampong reacted to a press conference by the Bawumia camp, which announced that 15 out of 23 MPs in the region had endorsed the former Vice President.

He downplayed the weight of the endorsements, insisting that the grassroots hold the real power in the upcoming election.

“There are 20,000 strong delegates in this region who will vote. Fifteen MPs pale in comparison. It is the base of the party that counts, and that base is with me,” he told a charged crowd of delegates.

The Abetifi MP said his campaign is rooted in broad grassroots support, which, he noted, reflects the true strength of the party.

Reiterating his vision of inclusiveness and renewal, he pledged to empower the base and ensure that no delegate is left behind.
