Defence and Interior Committee pays maiden visit to Ghana National Fire ServiceĀ

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior on Tuesday paid a maiden working visit to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The visit forms part of the committee’s oversight responsibilities under the ninthĀ  Parliament.

In his address, the Chairman, James Agalga, emphasised that the visit aimed to assess the working conditions, understand key operational challenges, and explore how the Committee can support the Service to deliver on its life-saving mandate more effectively.

The Acting Chief Fire Officer, CFO Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong, warmly welcomed the Committee and expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of the collaborative ties between Parliament and the GNFS.

As part of the interaction, DCFO Mark Brako Appiah Jnr, Director of Finance, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Service’s strategic structure, operational footprint, fire statistics, resource strength, and its 7-year development agenda.

The visit ended with fruitful deliberations, with the Committee pledging its continued support towards equipping the GNFS to fulfill its mission of protecting lives and property nationwide.
