The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi North, Bless Katamani, has expressed excitement and optimism following the commissioning and sod-cutting of several major development projects across the district.

Speaking to Adom News after ceremonies held in various communities, the DCE said the projects reflect the government’s commitment to improving livelihoods and accelerating development in Akatsi North.

The events were attended by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, and the Member of Parliament for Akatsi North, Nortsu-Kotoe Kwasi Peter.

The projects include the sod-cutting for a CHPS compound with nurses’ quarters at Metsrikasa, the completion of a two-storey, 40-room shopping mall at Ave Dakpa, the completion of a two-storey police headquarters at Ave Dakpa, the commissioning of a two-unit kindergarten classroom block at Zenu, the construction of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Zenu, and a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Nyitawuta.

According to Bless Katamani, the educational, health, and security infrastructure projects will significantly enhance service delivery and address long-standing challenges faced by residents. He noted that the interventions are expected to boost education, improve access to healthcare, and promote local economic activities.

“These projects are not just structures; they represent hope, progress, and a better future for our people. For years, some of these communities have struggled with inadequate infrastructure. Today marks a turning point in our development journey,” the DCE stated.

He assured residents that contractors would be closely monitored to ensure quality work and timely completion of ongoing projects. The DCE also urged community members to take ownership of the facilities and maintain them to guarantee long-term benefits.

He further called on traditional leaders and other stakeholders to support development efforts by promoting peace and cooperation within their communities.

Residents and community leaders who witnessed the events expressed appreciation to the government and the district assembly, describing the projects as timely interventions that will reduce hardship and create new opportunities, particularly for the youth.

The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to pursuing additional partnerships and initiatives to ensure inclusive development and prevent any community in Akatsi North from being left behind.
