Dawn fire destroys provision shop in Koforidua

A provision shop in Acheampong, a suburb of Koforidua, was partially destroyed by fire in the early hours of Wednesday, July 31, 2025.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at 5:38 am and arrived at the scene by 5:51 am.

The fire, which had engulfed a shop located in front of a 10-bedroom, two-storey building, was brought under control by 6:18 am and completely extinguished by 6:29 am.

Thanks to the swift response of the GNFS, the fire was prevented from spreading to nearby structures. No injuries were recorded.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

The shop sustained partial damage.
