Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has appealed to fans of the club to forgive midfielder Justice Blay following his recent controversial comments.

Blay, who was released by the Porcupine Warriors at the end of the 2024/25 football season, sparked outrage after alleging in a radio interview that some of his former teammates were involved in smoking and acts of betrayal.

Addressing the matter in an interview with Akoma FM, Danlad—who shared the Kotoko dressing room with Blay—called for calm and reconciliation.

“I would prefer not to comment on what Justice Blay said about Kotoko. However, I want to take this opportunity to plead with the Kotoko family on behalf of my brother,” said Danlad, a former club captain.

Now with Ethiopian Coffee SC, Danlad acknowledged Blay’s contributions during his time at the club and urged supporters to show understanding.

“Although he has already issued an apology, I ask that you forgive him. He came to Kotoko and served the club with all his heart, and I believe that deserves some appreciation.”

Justice Blay has since publicly apologised, expressing deep regret over his remarks.
